Planning eggs drop

In planning process, my team completed all of the five steps which included step 1 through 5. We planned out what we supposed to do and assigned each task to each group member. I was the one who helping to cut the straw (designer). Others gave out idea and drew the 3-D picture. We also knew where we stand in reaching the objective when someone in my group told us to be hurry in covering the egg with straws because we didn't have much time.

We developed many alternatives for the plan and decided to do the "spider man straw" unfortunately it didn't work out. In the end we just finished it by covering up the egg without any design. It looked terrible ha-ha

my team's performance is fine since we are just egg design amateur. I could cut the straw and design the egg more effectively if I have been given more time. Thus, timing is an important factor in achieving success. The more time we have, the better the result will be. Besides I think the most important step in planning is to choose the alternative and give out the idea because if the idea won't work the whole project will equal to zero.

Sad to see that your group couldn’t finish your “Spider Man Straw” idea in time, it sounds interesting. It looks like many groups had some trouble with time management. By the way, did you have problems sharing the scissors with other groups? I’m curious to see if most groups who needed it, got to use it. My group didn’t want to worry about sharing, so we decided not us the scissors in our design.

Feel bad about how it turned out for your group. You are right that if we were given more time it would have turned out mcuh better results and competition would have been even tougher. But we have to understand that everything we will have to do in life to come is not going to piece of cake. There always going to be some sort of constraint making our decisions tougher to make. This was one of the effort by professor to understand this and learn it for future benefit.
It was nice to hear that you did work through all the steps in the planning process. I think actual purpose was for us to know the processes involved in planning. And I think you guys have grasped that pretty good. Its not important whether it worked perfect, the more you are going to work with it , better use you will be able to make of it. Keep trying, it should turn out just fine for you in future.

Your group sounded a lot like mine. Lots of planing and ideas being thrown around, then at the last minute the rush kicks in and no matter how much planning, if your egg isn't ready then you do what you have to do to get it ready for the plunge. I agree that if we had more time we could have fastened the straws to our egg in a more secure fashion. But what can you do. Rules are rules. It was a fun exercise partly because the time constraints caused slight pandemonium.
